The Audi A6 Allroad has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The GV70 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The A6 Allroad has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The GV70 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the A6 Allroad Prestige helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The GV70 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Audi A6 Allroad’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Genesis GV70 does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the A6 Allroad and the GV70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Audi A6 Allroad is safer than the Genesis GV70:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Audi A6 Allroad is safer than the Genesis GV70:

Warranty

The A6 Allroad’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the GV70’s (12 vs. 7 years).

There are over 41 percent more Audi dealers than there are Genesis dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the A6 Allroad’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the A6 Allroad’s reliability 15 points higher than the GV70.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Audi 7 places higher in reliability than Genesis.

Engine

The A6 Allroad’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 35 more horsepower (335 vs. 300) and 58 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 311) than the GV70’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the Audi A6 Allroad is faster than the Genesis GV70:

Regenerative brakes improve the A6 Allroad’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The GV70 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The A6 Allroad has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the GV70 (19.3 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission

The A6 Allroad offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The GV70 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better stopping power the A6 Allroad’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GV70:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the A6 Allroad has larger tires than the GV70 (245/45R20 vs. 235/55R19).

The A6 Allroad’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GV70’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the A6 Allroad has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the GV70.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the A6 Allroad uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the GV70, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The A6 Allroad has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The A6 Allroad’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The GV70 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The A6 Allroad has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The GV70 doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the A6 Allroad’s wheelbase is 2 inches longer than on the GV70 (115.2 inches vs. 113.2 inches).

The A6 Allroad Prestige handles at .83 G’s, while the GV70 Advanced pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The A6 Allroad Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GV70 Advanced (26.5 seconds @ .68 average G’s vs. 26.9 seconds @ .65 average G’s).

Chassis

The design of the Audi A6 Allroad amounts to more than styling. The A6 Allroad has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is lower than the GV70 (.32) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the A6 Allroad get better fuel mileage.

Passenger Space

The A6 Allroad has .4 inches more rear headroom and .2 inches more rear legroom than the GV70.

Cargo Capacity

The A6 Allroad has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GV70 with its rear seat up (29.9 vs. 28.9 cubic feet). The A6 Allroad has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GV70 with its rear seat folded (69.5 vs. 56.9 cubic feet).

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the A6 Allroad easier. The A6 Allroad’s trunk lift-over height is 25 inches, while the GV70’s liftover is 29.9 inches.

The A6 Allroad’s cargo area is larger than the GV70’s in every dimension:

Ergonomics

The A6 Allroad has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GV70 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the GV70 Select/Advanced/Prestige, the A6 Allroad Prestige has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the A6 Allroad the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the GV70 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the A6 Allroad to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GV70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The A6 Allroad has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GV70 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Audi A6 Allroad has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the GV70 Select/Advanced/Prestige.

The A6 Allroad has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the GV70 Prestige/3.5T.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Audi A6 Allroad has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the GV70 Select/Advanced/Prestige offers wireless charging.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends the Audi A6 Allroad, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Genesis GV70 isn't recommended.
