Safety

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Prologue doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Q4 e-tron Sportback. But it costs extra on the Prologue.

Both the Q4 e-tron Sportback and the Prologue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Prologue has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Warranty

The Q4 e-tron Sportback comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Prologue’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Prologue’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Engine

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s electric motors produces 83 more horsepower (295 vs. 212) and 103 lbs.-ft. more torque (339 vs. 236) than the Prologue’s standard electric motor. The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s electric motors produces 7 more horsepower (295 vs. 288) and 6 lbs.-ft. more torque (339 vs. 333) than the Prologue’s optional electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Q4 50 e-tron Sportback gets better mileage than the Prologue Elite (100 city/89 hwy vs. 99 city/84 hwy MPGe).

Regenerative brakes improve the Q4 e-tron Sportback’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Prologue doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Brakes and Stopping

Tires and Wheels

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s 235/50R20 front and 255/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series front and 45 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Prologue’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q4 e-tron Sportback has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Prologue.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Q4 e-tron Sportback’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the Prologue’s (37.7 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

Chassis

The Q4 e-tron Sportback is 11.3 inches shorter than the Prologue, making the Q4 e-tron Sportback easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Ergonomics

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Prologue’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Q4 e-tron Sportback’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Prologue offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Q4 e-tron Sportback Premium Plus/Prestige’s Park Steering Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Prologue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
